Treadmills are the classic garage and spare-bedroom item: bought with good intentions, used for a season, and then impossible to get rid of because they weigh 250 pounds and were assembled inside the room they now live in. Bulk trash will not take one, and most people discover the deck does not fit through the door only after they have tried.
The heavy part is the motor housing and the steel deck at the front, not the rails. That makes the machine badly balanced for a solo carry and genuinely dangerous on stairs. Folding models help a little but the hinge is a pinch point, and the frame still has to clear the doorway at full width.
Our crews break treadmills down on site. The upright console arms unbolt, the deck separates from the frame, and the pieces come out one at a time. Most removals take 20 to 30 minutes even when the machine arrived in a box six years ago.
| Equipment | Typical weight | Removal notes |
|---|---|---|
| Folding treadmill | 180-250 lbs | Console arms unbolted; hinge strapped shut before it moves |
| Non-folding commercial treadmill | 250-400 lbs | Deck separated from the frame on site; two to three-person crew |
| Elliptical | 150-250 lbs | Arms and pedals removed; long and awkward rather than heavy |
| Exercise bike / spin bike | 80-150 lbs | Usually clears a doorway intact; flywheel makes it front-heavy |
| Rowing machine | 60-120 lbs | Often splits in half at the rail; easiest gym item to remove |
| Home gym / weight stack | 300-600 lbs | Full disassembly and plates carried separately; counts as a quarter load |
Pricing is based on the truck space your items take, and the price is confirmed on site before anything is loaded. Text photos for a fast number or book a free estimate.
A treadmill is mostly steel frame and deck with an electric motor, so it recycles well. The frame and deck go to a Valley scrap yard, the motor and control board are separated as e-waste, and the running belt and plastic shrouds are the only significant landfill portion.
Working machines in clean condition are worth trying to donate first. Community centers, youth programs and shelters occasionally take functioning cardio equipment, though most donation sites are selective about anything with a motor and a control board because they cannot service it.
Be realistic about age. Consumer treadmills more than about ten years old, or any unit with a slipping belt, dead console or burnt-smelling motor, are scrap. That is not a bad outcome, it is just the honest one, and it means the machine leaves your garage today instead of waiting for a buyer who is not coming.
The most common treadmill call in the Valley is an upstairs bonus room or a converted bedroom in a two-story Gilbert, Chandler or Peoria home. A 300-pound machine coming down carpeted stairs is a controlled two to three-person descent with tread protection, which we plan for as long as you mention the stairs at booking.
Garage treadmills bring a different issue. Arizona garage heat degrades belts, rubber feet and control boards fast, so a machine stored out there is almost never salvageable regardless of how little it was used. It also usually comes with a layer of dust that we wrap before it crosses your living space.
Almost nobody has just a treadmill. Weight benches, dumbbell racks, a yoga ball and a wall mirror tend to go on the same trip, and bundling the whole abandoned home gym into one pickup is far cheaper than coming back for the bench next month.

Yes. We break the machine down on site and use a controlled multi-person descent with stair protection. Mention the stairs when you book so the crew is sized right.
No. Our crew unbolts the console arms and separates the deck as needed, and we are insured for the walls and floors along the way.
No. Valley bulk-trash programs exclude large mechanical and motorized equipment, and they will not enter your garage or home to collect anything.
The steel frame and deck go to scrap metal, the motor and control board are handled as e-waste, and only the belt and plastic shrouds are landfilled.
Sometimes. Working machines in clean condition are offered to community programs first, though many sites decline motorized equipment they cannot service.
Yes, and it prices much better as one job. Benches, racks, weight plates, ellipticals and mirrors can all go on the same trip.
Pricing depends on the size of the treadmill, how many pieces you have, and access at the property (stairs, elevators, tight hallways). We give a firm, no-obligation quote before we load anything, so you always know the price up front. Call or text photos of your treadmill for the fastest quote.
No. Our crew handles all the lifting and carrying from wherever the treadmill sits, including upstairs bedrooms, basements, garages, and back patios. Just point at it and we take it from there.
In most cases, yes. We keep same-day and next-day slots open across Scottsdale and the Valley. Same-day availability depends on how full the schedule is, so calling earlier in the day gives you the best chance.
We sort every load. Usable treadmills in good condition go to local donation partners, recyclable metal, cardboard, and electronics go to recycling facilities, and only what nobody can reuse goes to a licensed transfer station. Nothing gets dumped illegally.
We are based in Scottsdale and serve the Valley, including Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Glendale, Peoria, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, and Fountain Hills. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call and we will confirm.
Yes. Mora's Junk Removal is a fully insured local company with 5+ years of experience and a 5.0 Google rating from 179 reviews. Your floors, walls, and property are protected while we work.
Absolutely. Most customers add a few extra items once the truck is on site. We can take furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, yard waste, garage clutter, and general household junk in the same trip, usually for less than booking a second pickup.
