TV Removal in the Valley: What to Expect

Televisions are regulated e-waste in Arizona, not regular trash. Older CRT tube sets contain several pounds of leaded glass, and flat panels made before roughly 2012 use mercury backlight tubes. Neither belongs in a curbside bin, and both are refused by bulk-trash programs across the Valley.

The awkward part is usually not the weight, it is the shape and the mount. A 75-inch panel is light enough for two people but flexes if it is carried wrong, and a wall-mounted set needs to come off a bracket that is lagged into studs before it goes anywhere. We bring the drivers and take the bracket too if you want it gone.

Old rear-projection and console TVs are the opposite problem: a 1990s tube console can weigh 200 pounds inside a wood cabinet, and it usually lives in a room it was carried into before a doorway got narrowed by trim or flooring.

TV types, weights and disposal path

TV typeTypical weightHow it is handled
Flat panel under 43 in15-30 lbsBoxed or blanket wrapped, one-person carry, e-waste recycling
Flat panel 50-65 in35-60 lbsTwo-person carry to avoid panel flex; wall bracket removed on request
Flat panel 70 in and up60-100 lbsCarried vertically with edge support; needs a clear path, not a stairwell squeeze
CRT tube TV60-200 lbsLeaded glass; goes to certified e-waste processing, never a landfill
Rear-projection / console150-300 lbsAppliance dolly and straps; often the heaviest item in the house
Plasma panel50-100 lbsHeavier than an equivalent LCD and more fragile at the corners

Pricing is based on the truck space your items take, and the price is confirmed on site before anything is loaded. Text photos for a fast number or book a free estimate.

Why TVs go to e-waste recycling instead of the dump

Electronics require an appropriate downstream handling option rather than ordinary household disposal. The set is dismantled rather than shredded whole: circuit boards are separated for precious-metal recovery, the plastic housing is chipped for reuse, aluminum heat sinks and steel chassis go to metal recycling, and the leaded glass from CRTs is handled as regulated material.

Mercury backlights in older LCDs are removed as a separate waste stream. This is the specific reason a 2009 flat panel should not be tossed in a bin even though it looks like harmless plastic and glass, and why the transfer stations we use will reject one on sight.

If your TV still powers on and displays a clean picture, say so when you book. Working sets get offered to donation partners before anything else happens to them, and a five-year-old panel with a working remote frequently finds a second home.

How to prep for your TV pickup

    1. 1Tell us the size and whether it is wall mounted. A 75-inch on a bracket over a fireplace is a different job than one sitting on a stand.
    2. 2Unplug and unhook the components. Pull the HDMI cables, power cord and any soundbar so nothing gets dragged off a shelf.
    3. 3Factory reset a smart TV. Sign out of your streaming accounts before we take it. Once it leaves, we cannot do that for you.
    4. 4Decide about the bracket and the stand. We take the wall mount, media console and old stand in the same trip if you want them gone.
    5. 5Leave heavy console sets in place. Do not drag a tube TV across the floor. We bring the dolly and the floor protection.

Wall mounts, apartments and the multi-TV cleanout

Removing a wall bracket leaves four to six lag holes in the drywall. We take the mount off and hand you the hardware, but patching and painting is a drywall job, not a haul-away job, so plan for it if you are moving out of a rental.

High-rise and mid-rise buildings in Phoenix and Old Town Scottsdale usually require a service elevator reservation for anything over a certain size. A 75-inch panel counts. Mention the building at booking and we schedule around the dock hours instead of getting turned away at the desk.

Multi-set cleanouts are common after an estate or an office refresh, and they price much better together. Six TVs on one trip is a fraction of six separate pickups, and the e-waste run to the recycler is the same run either way.

    TV Questions, Answered

Can I just put my old TV in the trash?

No. Televisions are regulated e-waste in Arizona because of leaded CRT glass and mercury backlights in older panels, and Valley bulk-trash programs will not accept them.

Do you take the TV off the wall?

Yes, including the bracket if you want it gone. We bring the drivers, support the panel while it comes off the mount, and hand you the hardware.

Will you take a huge old tube or projection TV?

Yes. Those run 150 to 300 pounds, so we bring an appliance dolly and a two-person crew. You should not attempt to move one yourself.

What happens to my TV after pickup?

It goes to a certified electronics recycler where boards, metals, plastics and glass are separated. If a set still works, mention its condition when booking so current reuse options can be discussed.

Should I wipe my smart TV first?

Yes. Do a factory reset and sign out of your streaming accounts before pickup, the same way you would with a phone.

Can you take multiple TVs at once?

Yes, and it is far cheaper per set. Office refreshes and estate cleanouts routinely go out with six or more on a single trip.

How much does tv removal cost?

Pricing depends on the size of the tv, how many pieces you have, and access at the property (stairs, elevators, tight hallways). We give a firm, no-obligation quote before we load anything, so you always know the price up front. Call or text photos of your tv for the fastest quote.

Do I have to move the tv outside first?

No. Our crew handles all the lifting and carrying from wherever the tv sits, including upstairs bedrooms, basements, garages, and back patios. Just point at it and we take it from there.

Can you remove a tv the same day I call?

In most cases, yes. We keep same-day and next-day slots open across Scottsdale and the Valley. Same-day availability depends on how full the schedule is, so calling earlier in the day gives you the best chance.

    Do you serve my area?

We are based in Scottsdale and serve the Valley, including Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Glendale, Peoria, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, and Fountain Hills. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call and we will confirm.

    Are you fully insured?

Yes. Mora's Junk Removal is a fully insured local company with 5+ years of experience and a 5.0 Google rating from 179 reviews. Your floors, walls, and property are protected while we work.

Can you take other junk while you are here?

Absolutely. Most customers add a few extra items once the truck is on site. We can take furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, yard waste, garage clutter, and general household junk in the same trip, usually for less than booking a second pickup.
