Dressers look easy and then surprise people. A solid wood nine-drawer piece from the 1970s can weigh 250 pounds empty, and the drawers themselves account for a third of that. Removing them first is not optional, it is the difference between a two-person carry and a wrecked doorway.
The other common surprise is the mirror. Attached dresser mirrors are bolted to a bracket on the back and stick up two to three feet, which means the unit cannot go through a doorway or into an elevator upright until the mirror comes off. We bring the drivers and take both pieces.
Anti-tip straps are now standard on most bedroom furniture and are anchored into a stud behind the piece. We disconnect the strap and take the hardware with the dresser so you are not left with an anchor screwed into your wall.
| Dresser style | Typical size and weight | Removal notes |
|---|---|---|
| Three-drawer nightstand chest | 24-30 in wide, 40-70 lbs | One-person carry; drawers pulled first anyway |
| Tall boy / chest of drawers | 30-40 in wide, 100-180 lbs | Top-heavy; anti-tip strap disconnected before it moves |
| Standard six-drawer dresser | 50-60 in wide, 120-200 lbs | Most common bedroom pickup; two-person carry with drawers out |
| Nine-drawer triple dresser | 60-72 in wide, 180-280 lbs | Solid wood versions are the heaviest; may need legs or feet removed |
| Dresser with attached mirror | Adds 20-40 lbs and 30 in of height | Mirror unbolted and wrapped separately for safe transport |
| Armoire / wardrobe | 40-50 in wide, 200-350 lbs | Doors secured shut; often needs a doorway measurement first |
Pricing is based on the truck space your items take, and the price is confirmed on site before anything is loaded. Text photos for a fast number or book a free estimate.
Solid wood dressers with working drawers are among the best donation items we handle. Furniture banks and family resource programs across the Valley have steady demand for bedroom storage, and a dated but sturdy dresser gets used immediately.
Particleboard and laminate pieces are the harder case. Once a flat-pack dresser has been moved twice, the joints loosen and the back panel splits, and donation partners will not take a unit that cannot support its own drawers. If yours has swelling at the base or a sagging drawer bottom, expect it to be recycled rather than rehomed.
Anything that cannot be donated gets separated. Solid wood and clean plywood go to wood recycling, drawer slides and hardware go to metal scrap, mirrors are handled as glass, and only the laminated particleboard has to be disposed of. We do not send an intact dresser to a landfill just because it is faster.
Almost every dresser call turns into a bedroom set. The dresser, the mirror, two nightstands, a headboard and a mattress is the standard combination, and pricing it as one half-load pickup is dramatically cheaper than four separate item removals. Tell us the whole list when you book.
Upstairs bedrooms are routine but worth mentioning. A 200-pound triple dresser going down carpeted stairs needs the drawers out, a two-person controlled descent and jamb protection at the turn. There is no stair surcharge; we just need to know so the window is right.
Timing matters more than people think on move-out days. If a mattress and dresser have to be gone before a walkthrough or a closing, book the pickup for the morning rather than the afternoon. Same-day is usually available across the Valley, but the earlier slot removes the risk entirely.

Yes. Every drawer needs to be empty, including the ones you forgot about. Anything left inside leaves with the dresser and we cannot retrieve it afterward.
No need. Our crew pulls the drawers at the doorway, which is faster and keeps the hallway clear during the carry.
Yes. We unbolt the mirror from its bracket, wrap it separately for transport, and take both pieces in the same trip.
If it is solid, clean and the drawers work, we route it to Valley furniture banks. Particleboard units with swollen bases or broken backs are recycled instead.
Yes, and there is no stair fee. We remove the drawers, protect the jambs and do a controlled two-person descent.
Yes, and it is much cheaper as one pickup. Dresser, nightstands, headboard, mattress and box spring all fit on a single trip.
Pricing depends on the size of the dresser, how many pieces you have, and access at the property (stairs, elevators, tight hallways). We give a firm, no-obligation quote before we load anything, so you always know the price up front. Call or text photos of your dresser for the fastest quote.
No. Our crew handles all the lifting and carrying from wherever the dresser sits, including upstairs bedrooms, basements, garages, and back patios. Just point at it and we take it from there.
In most cases, yes. We keep same-day and next-day slots open across Scottsdale and the Valley. Same-day availability depends on how full the schedule is, so calling earlier in the day gives you the best chance.
We sort every load. Usable dressers in good condition go to local donation partners, recyclable metal, cardboard, and electronics go to recycling facilities, and only what nobody can reuse goes to a licensed transfer station. Nothing gets dumped illegally.
We are based in Scottsdale and serve the Valley, including Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Glendale, Peoria, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, and Fountain Hills. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call and we will confirm.
Yes. Mora's Junk Removal is a fully insured local company with 5+ years of experience and a 5.0 Google rating from 179 reviews. Your floors, walls, and property are protected while we work.
Absolutely. Most customers add a few extra items once the truck is on site. We can take furniture, appliances, mattresses, electronics, yard waste, garage clutter, and general household junk in the same trip, usually for less than booking a second pickup.
